the miss is deliberate, more of a warning shot than anything else. unlike waver, flat doesn't want to fight, and would rather play defensively than parry his professor's attacks. unfortunately, there's no such thing as waiting it out when you're the one that's supplying the same magical energy that's being used, but flat is kind of hoping that waver will give up on this weird version of cat and mouse that they're playing. ]
[ he pauses, considering the answers that he could give waver. how can he graduate when he knows he won't make it out of the grail war alive? what even is out there waiting for him past the el melloi classroom?
The point is I would have never forced you to leave if you graduated. If you truly wanted to stay, there would have been a place. The point is that you self-sabotaging yourself isn't helping you there or here. It is keeping you from growing the way you want to.
