hypomeneo: (Default)
CHARACTER: Waver Velvet
CANON: Fate/ Grand Order
GOD: Zhuge Liang
MYTHOLOGY: Taoist
POWER: Power buffing/debuffing. Waver is capable of one buff and one debuff on whatever targets chosen for these status effects and for whatever parameter wished to enhance/decrease. That means him, his allies, his enemies, or random objects like that bridge over there. The power is conceptual, meaning things other than your standard RPG parameters can be covered if it can be enhanced or decreased. He can increase his own strength… but for example, Waver can also buff the rate of rusting of the steel supports in that bridge, causing it to collapse, or debuff a curse inflicted on an ally, helping to save their life, or even affect something as abstract as courage. The applications of this power are diverse and its effectiveness and power will increase with wisdom.

But there are drawbacks. The applications are tricky, as Waver can only give one buff and debuff and that’s it for a day when he releases it. There's a time limit of use - one hour. As well, the power used recklessly and unwisely will bite him in the ass eventually; there’s always the chance that choosing the wrong buff and debuff won’t help a situation… or make it so much worse, after all.

TEMPLE: It may or may not surprise that the Temple of Zhuge Liang in the Heavens is far more modest than temples dedicated to him on the Near Shore, such as The Memorial Temple of Wuhou in Chengdu. Instead, it far more resembles the thatched cottage where Liu Bei called not once, but three times to secure the strategist's aid; a traditional walled Chinese villa surrounded by gardens featuring peach trees and a few cranes that reside on the grounds. There's a pond nestled next to the villa - the Temple's blessed water source.

Inside, the current owner's influence becomes more evident. There are books. There are shelved books everywhere (except the kitchen and bathroom), containing information from everything from magic to medicine to military matters. There's an extensive video gaming set up in the common area. There is an equally extensive well stocked workshop for both magical and mundane workings. The furnishings and other appointments are modern and practical, tailored for the comfort of the god and his shinki.

Most interestingly enough, if one looks, a certain sigil is subtly woven throughout the entire Temple, clearly important to the god... but how it connects with Zhuge Liang? Perhaps you should ask.

CHARACTER: Waver Velvet (aka Lord El-Melloi II or Zhuge Liang, the Heroic Spirit fused with him)
CANON: Fate/ Grand Order
VESSEL NAME & LOCATION: Nin (忍) - right between his shoulder blades.
VESSEL FORM: A jian. Greatly resembling Green Destiny of ‘Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon’ fame, the thing that first stands out is the defining color of the sword isn’t green, but red. The guard is carved of red jade, as is the ring pommel, while the hilt is of ebony. A gold cord is tied to the pommel, in which attached crane feathers hang down from it in a cascade. There is an inlay of black veined with gold running down the center of the blade, but instead of Chinese characters, there are ritualistic symbols of an ancient magical language carved in instead. They glow faintly like embers; the sword being as much a tool of magic as it is of war.
POWER: Power buffing/debuffing. Waver can offer his god one buff and one debuff on whatever targets chosen for these status effects and for whatever parameter wished to enhance/decrease. That means the god, allies of the god, enemies of the god, or random objects like that bridge over there. The jian is a conceptual weapon, meaning things other than your standard RPG parameters can be covered if it can be enhanced or decreased. The god can increase his own strength… but for example, the god can also buff the rate of rusting of the steel supports in that bridge, causing it to collapse, or debuff a curse inflicted on an ally, helping to save their life, or even affect something as abstract as courage. The applications of this power are diverse.

But the applications are also tricky, as Waver can only give one buff and debuff and that’s it until he’s out of vessel form for a moment to reset, making him and the god vulnerable if this must occur in the heat of battle. As well, the power used recklessly and unwisely will bite an unsuspecting god in the ass eventually; there’s always the chance that choosing the wrong buff and debuff won’t help a situation… or make it so much worse, after all.

CAUSE OF DEATH: Saving humanity across the spectrum of Pan-Human history is a risky business! Especially when Servants are involved! Waver went down in a Servant battle, protecting his Master and another, in a blaze of glory. That is to say, he was ran through with a sword after taking a barrage of hits.
