[The purr sends shivers down his spine resonating deep in his bones. Iskandar chuckles, eyes half-close, his hands already sinking into the silky softness of Waver's hair when their foreheads meet. His blood turns to liquid fire again under his husband's touch.]
Yes, my love. Great idea. Very practical.
[It's infinitely tempting to push the hand on his stomach lower. Iskandar is not a man of much restraint. Frankly, he doubts he has any when it comes to succumbing to his desires. And all that he desires right now is to make love to Waver again. He's well aware that it would completely obliterate their plan to get dinner before the restaurant stops serving it. He knows that. He also knows that almost nothing is such a mood killer as one's growling stomach. He doesn't want to ruin their stars gazing moment by something so easily preventable.
Truly the final evidence that he has indeed ascended to godhood lies with the fact that he's even able to tear himself away from his husband. Only by some divine exercise of will can he manage to sit pulling Waver with him.]
Come. If I spend a second longer in this bed we won't be going anywhere.
[Cold shower is a must if he's to even string two coherent thoughts together. A useful skill when the plan is to go out and talk to other people. Iskandar lets out a disappointed sigh. This is way too difficult. They should order room service next time.]
[Room service is easier when they aren't in a cabin surrounded by snow. One singular flaw in Waver's plans.
There's a bit of a playful pout as he's pulled to sit. But otherwise Waver behaves, tossing back his tossled hair back over his back, hiding the massive burn scar spilling down it from view. Yes, time for a godly exhibit of restraint.]
I won't tempt you a second longer, love. [Definitely in that kind of mood.] Until later.
[Maybe over dinner a bit to build the anticipation.
(Iskandar, you are creating a monster here)
But up out of bed, and padding along to the shower Waver goes. Cold shower is a must here too. Next time, he'll plan better for their rampant appetites. Room service, definitely, next time.]
[That small detail escaped their attention but it is too late to worry about it now. Iskandar chuckles at Waver's dramatic hair toss. He catches a loose strand between his fingers releasing it only after he managed to plant a kiss on Waver's naked shoulder.]
I hardly think that's even possible. I am forever tempted by you. [Definitely over dinner, he counts on it.
(Waver, dear, how nice of you to appreciate all the hard work he's doing here.)
To shower it is. Iskandar would love to spend more time tending to Waver's hair but he is distracted. His hands just keep wandering all over his husbands back, neck and shoulders. He has to hold back not let himself venture lower. Cold water is indeed a blessing but it's barely enough. So he has to hurry. They are out of the shower and dressing up a lot faster than he'd like. He takes his solace in the knowledge that once they've eaten he'd have all the time in the world to enjoy what he has to postpone now.
Still, watching Waver dress is a pleasure on its own. Black and crimson always looked good on him. Iskandar smiles.]
Mhm, I would prefer you naked now but I must admit that outfit suits you.
[Watching him undress would be even better. But that's for later. It's far from easy but he can wait.]
Forever tempting a forever tempting man? Mhmmm... that sounds just right.
[It's very difficult to keep his own touch innocent and in completely appropriate places while they're scrubbing each other down. Very difficult. The cold water helps, but he still prickles with hunger, and it's a race through getting clean. Especially when Iskandar touches his neck.
Soon. After dinner. Soon.
Black suit. Deep crimson dress shirt. Black tie with subtle gold accent. He's just fastening his cufflinks when Iskandar comments, and flushes pink.]
Terumi tailored it for me. I've been waiting for a good occasion to wear it. I like it. [Not that Waver doesn't always favor business wear, but the outfits he gets bespoke from his friends in Ebisu's temple are definitely the nicest articles of clothing he has. He adds a men's silk scarf to drape down the sides of his chest.] But I can think of a way it'll look even nicer. After dinner, though.
[Being slowly dropped to the floor a piece at a time as Waver stripteases for his husband in other words. He reddens further at the thought.]
[He drinks the sight of that red creeping up as Waver explains the suit. Then deepening as he goes on about his after-dinner plans. Iskandar loves making his gorgeous husband blush like that. As he said earlier, crimson suits him.]
Thank you, love. I see we both agree the occasion deserves a little extra.
[It is a short trek between their cabin and the restaurant. The look they get at the entrance confirms to Iskandar that they did, in fact, arrive at the last possible moment. The man at the door needs to go and fetch the list of guests from the back to cross them off. Truly last possible moment.
Finally, they get seated and don't even have to wait long for the food to arrive. The fact they showed up late accidentally helps with one small problem they almost always have in places like that. Getting noticed. This time it is not a problem at all. They've got everyone's attention for long enough.
Now that they've eaten, ordered more wine, and are just waiting for the dessert, Iskandar can finally appreciate what Waver is wearing in all its splendor. He looks across the table swirling a bit wine in his glass.]
So this is the legendary suit.
[If Waver planned it as a surprise he chose wrong temple to help him. Gossip is the life of Ebisu's temple. Iskandar got nagged about it on almost every visit.]
I've been hearing about it for weeks.
[More like months. He takes a sip from his glass not even for a moment tearing his gaze away from Waver.]
I'm pleased to confirm it does live up to its legend.
[Problems Waver almost always resorts in using magecraft to solve when they don't have a call button for the server or a touch screen to put in their order like they so often do in Japan.
He sips his glass, cheeks pinking. Gossip is the lifeblood of Ebisu's temple - that and all the betting. If they were nagging Iskandar, then there was a pot on the line. Perhaps... nay, definitely encouraged by Natsumi and Terumi.]
Ahhh... when I was going to stun you with it was up for wager, hmm?
[Compliment... taken?? Waver smiles behind his wine glass, lashes lowering. Honestly, those two are going to take it. He already told them he was going to wear it here.]
Now I wonder who's going to walk away smiling for winning? Aside from us.
[Aside from those two. He has his suspicions among those he socializes in the blessed water baths with. Not that he needs to keep up the habit given his godhood and the fact he doesn't have enough shinki to strain him, but it's part of the culture, and something he encourages for the shinki of their own temple to take part of. It's just practical there beyond the emotional benefits; it helps keep their shinki healthy and prevent, catch, and treat blight, and Ebisu's own shinki are very vigilant about keeping each other and the people who join them safe that way.]
[Touchscreens are lifesavers. One of the conveniences Iskandar hates losing when he's away from Japan. Only then he realises how much he got used to them.]
Apparently it was. [Iskandar rolls his eyes.] They are shameless. That's what they are.
[He's first to admit that hard-working shinki of Ebisu fully deserve their entertainment. If he can provide it for them by being a topic of juicy gossip then it's exactly what he will do. They all, shinki and their god, have been an invaluable help to him and Waver since both of them appeared on the Far Shore. For that, Iskandar will be forever grateful. Even if some of them remain salty at him for taking Waver permanently out of the dating pool. As if he was ever in it. Hmpf.]
No idea. I don't think I've ever got asked twice by the same people. Whoever it is, is going to end considerably better off. I wouldn't be surprised if half of the temple was on it.
[As for the time to use that newly acquired wealth. Ah, that's another matter altogether.]
And I am stunned.
[He reaches across the table to caress Waver's cheek.]
You look absolutely gorgeous in it. I think I owe Terumi a bottle of something really nice as a thank you.
That's one of the things they are, that's for sure.
[Waver rolls his eyes right back. They can be ridiculous.
But on that topic, not that Iskandar doesn't have his own admirers in Ebisu's temple... here's always the fact that god and shinki relations are normally taboo, however, and often shinki aren't allowed to have relations at all. These barriers don't exist at Ebisu's temple, but they're still felt. Waver knows those shinki to be silent. For him... well, he was once attainable in those eyes when he was trapped as shinki and even without an relationship, New Gods disappeared all the time back then and there was hope Ebisu would take him. There's some of the salt right there. He's out of reach in more than one way.]
Though try three quarters. I'm trying to think of who there who doesn't have a gambling habit.
[He leans into that touch, affectionate, hand coming up to cover Iskandar's own.]
I feel gorgeous, especially right now. [Then he breathes in amusement.] Sake's always safe. Nice white or rose, too. Red's... he isn't the biggest tannin fan out there.
[Terumi's one of those admirers because Iskandar is built exactly the way he likes, but he's quite content with just enjoying the view whenever Iskandar comes by and listening to all of Waver's tales. Waver doubts the man would ever really entertain entering a relationship with a god given the taboo and his own history either.]
[Rules and limitations. That's what the Far Shore has in heaps. Some are sensible. Made for protection of both gods and shinki alike. Protection that is sorely needed. Especially given how rotten the system is. How literally life-threatening. Some are not. Made for the convenience of those who hold the power. Same old story repeated over time and space.
Those very limitations, those taboos, are at fault for his ignorance. Iskandar has no idea he has secret fans at Ebisu's temple. He wouldn't be surprised though, he has been loved, and loved, many while he was still a mortal man. That's not bound to change now that he's a god. And yet even if he knew it wouldn't have changed a thing. For he has eyes only for one man now. The one sitting on the other side of the table. His husband.]
I cannot find any blame in that. They deserve their fun. [He winks at Waver.] At least it's normal gambling and not one of those awful gatcha games.
[He is in no hurry to move his hand. Even less so when Waver covers it with his own. He smiles content. So beautiful.]
And rightfully so.
[Spectacular. This is the word he does not say but he doesn't have to. There is not enough words in all languages of the world to properly describe the beauty of his love. They are still waiting for dessert but Iskandar seriously entertains a thought to just skip it and go back to their cabin so he can admire this beauty in peace. But he has some shreds of patience left and the desserts in this place were heralded as utterly divine. So who else to judge if that's indeed so than a pair of gods?]
So sake it will be. I may end up asking him to make something for me too. [He pauses, a mischievous smile forming on his lips.] If I can afford it.
[That last sentence is more a joke than anything. Right now? He most likely can. It wasn't always so but the steady buildup of his popularity did more than just deprive him of time he could otherwise spend with Waver. Still no riches of Babylon yet but already enough to afford a nice suit without dealing a serious blow to the Temple's budget.]
[A system Waver has no end of bitterness towards. It nearly destroyed the both of them before his ascension.]
Gah, don't remind me of the gatcha craze. [There's a bit of a smile as his eyes roll up and he adopts a put upon expression.] I can't wait for it to blow over, so people stop pestering me about it. I'm quite content with things like my Candy Crush and Prune.
[If it's a fiendishly difficult puzzle game, it's on his phone. Along with so many other games...
Waver glows content as he continues to nuzzle. Which is of course when their server brings by dessert. It's a riff on a tradition Norwegian Christmas dessert with local cloudberries and cream, and it's light and airy and absolutely fragrant.]
Careful now. [Tease, tease...] Get into debt with Natsumi and Terumi, and they'll be sure to get all the interest out of you they can.
[Ebisu's temple is overworked and they'll all do whatever it takes to lighten the workload. But for money, Iskandar would find he'd be getting off light in comparison to others. Natsumi and Terumi are Waver's best old generation shinki friends and both of them work closely with Ebisu to swap around prayers so tasks go to the god best suited to handle them.
(... that said, financial debt is something Waver is keen to avoid for obvious reasons. He likes nice things, but his clothing collection is much smaller than rumored for instance, thank you. All of the things he has goes with everything else, and mixing and matching just makes it looks like he's gone wilder than he has.)]
Though I'm curious just what he'd design for you. [Purring.] You already make men and women weak in the knees when you walk by... should I expect them to be outright dropping?
[Iskandar appreciates that the server does not flinch witnessing their small display of affection. But it gets even better. Not only does the man not flinch, he actually smiles! With that kind of look in his eye that usually is reserved for married couples, children and small animals. The one that says aww that's sweet more than anything else. Like a normal person would! Iskandar is fully amazed by this country now.]
Enjoy your dessert, gentlemen.
[The server says in perfect English, after putting their plates before them, and leaves them to do exactly so. Bless those Scandinavians and their inhuman language skills. And bless this man for being so damned nice. Iskandar can't even be jealous that the guy speaks better English than he does. Surely he's able to communicate but Grail-given lore can do nothing for his accent and yet he does not care. His already good evening has been improved further still by this experience.]
I'll make sure it's something you'd like.
[Iskandar chuckles. Waver, dear. He knows managing finances is not a skill he's particularly good at but he did pick up a couple of things here and there. Also, he generally prefers leaving the money issues to you. You know how to deal with them better than he does.]
Do they now? Hm, I didn't know. I always thought it's because they were looking at you. [Oh he knows. It's rather obvious in some cases. He just doesn't care. His interest lies elsewhere. Everyone should already be well aware of that.] We can always call the ambulance together if that starts being an issue.
[Bless that server. Waver relaxes further as once again it's proven they won't have to deal with any disapproval for being a married pair of men. Or engaging in normal acts of affection. He didn't even notice himself starting to tense. This is rapidly becoming a perfect evening.]
Thank you.
[His attention swings back to Iskandar. Well, he's had practice. Too much damn practice. Experience that is being put to good use now.]
They certainly do. And that might be wishing they were in my place as much as admiration for my own good qualities. [It's easier to speak well of himself while bantering like this. He strokes the back of Iskandar's hand, while starting in on dessert and flirting between bites.] Though, that's an inevitability. You know this.
[Simply watching Waver put a spoon in his mouth is enough for Iskandar to lose a breath or two. He licks his lips; his own dessert untouched. Soon. Very, very soon.]
We may need to start announcing our appearances sufficiently ahead of time to give everyone time to get a medical team ready. [A smirk.] In case, you know, someone fainted.
[The red begins creeping in Waver's cheeks. There's a little cream at the corner of his mouth. He delicately swipes it off with his thumb and pops the tip in his mouth for a slow suck and pop as it comes right back out.
He knows exactly what dirty thoughts are going through his husband's mind and if he helps with that imagery? All the better for the upcoming feast.]
Now that would be a shame if someone faints.
[Prim like he isn't encouraging matters. Hmph. Hmph. Smirk. Smirk. He leans in, not having broken yet into fluster, going for the smoulder. Maybe he'll last this time.]
This is tasty. Try some.
[We're not going anywhere until the dessert on your plate does.]
[How eloquent of him. Iskandar's breath quickens as he watches Waver wipe the cream then suck at his thumb. The intensity of his gaze surely could burn through a wall. Or several. Forgive him the brevity, love. He just can't stop imagining where he'd prefer that mouth of yours to be right this moment.]
[Iskandar blinks.]
Huh? Oh. Right. Dessert.
[His eyes drop to the plate looking at the cream and the berries as if he saw them for the first time in his life. He digs in and tries a bite.]
Tasty indeed.
[It's sweet. That's all he can tell. Maybe he could appreciate it more if someone hasn't decided to be so criminally distracting now.]
Waver licks his lips, not bothering to disguise his own hunger or that he's laser focused on watching Iskandar eat while he finishes his own treat. Soon. The red on his cheeks remain - this is probably the most bold he's been in public, but the fact people aren't paying attention to them is egging him on into behavior that he wouldn't show in a similar situation on the Far Shore.]
I think I could go for seconds, you know.
[Dabbing his mouth with his napkin. Dessert was tasty. But he's looking forward to round two.]
[Waver, you sly monster. How dare you torment him like that?
Iskandar would say not a word of protest though. He's practically ecstatic seeing Waver behave so unrestrained. So bold. He's never seen him like that before. And it's a sight worth more than all the world's treasures. Definitely worth a little patience.]
I think I had my fill so I will excuse myself. But don't let it prevent you from indulging. We're on vacation after all. You can join me in the cabin when you're finished.
[Iskandar makes a move as if he was planning to get up and leave. He's not entirely sure he'd be able to really pull it off. To really leave without dragging Waver with him against any and all protestation. Before his desire will burn both of them alive.]
[So they both rise from their seats. It's not long before Iskandar has an arm wrapped around his husband's waist and he leads them out of the restaurant.]
You could try.
[Here comes that lion's grin again. Content and lazy. Eagerly anticipating a different kind of feast now.]
[Playing hard to get is ruined by the tone and Waver's hip bumping against Iskandar's own.
There's that lion's grin again. His husband's practically salivating at what's incoming in mere moments. Waver feels his skin prickle under it, his own desire roaring.]
But you are temptation incarnate. And since I have no plans of letting you sleep tonight...
[The door close behind them as they leave the restaurant and the warmth inside. The temperature must have dropped lower still. It's so cold Iskandar can almost smell the ice in the air. Rarely is he so aware of being alive like in moments such as this. The ice in the air, fire in his veins, snow crunching beneath his feet, his love at his side and stars above them. It is good to be alive. The moment they leave the pool of light radiating from the restaurant and inky, icy darkness envelops them, Iskandar stops. He pulls Waver closer for a kiss. Deep, and slow, and sensual. Only when they have to part he whispers.]
My love. [He smiles. Even just saying those words sends small shivers of pleasure down his spine. So much more of it awaits when they'll be back at the cabin.] You shine brighter than all of the stars combined.
[The cold prickles sharply at his skin, just as it continues to prickle under the naked desire of his husband's gaze. It makes him all the more aware of the heat burning up within, and Waver's lips part in want as they step out from the light and into the star strewn darkness.
He doesn't mind being dead. The anniversary of his death in fact is nearly here. New Year's Eve. It's given him a second life, and since he's awoken to godhood, it's vibrant and happy and full, despite all its challenges.
There's a cease in the crunch of snow as Iskandar pulls Waver to him, and Waver rises on tiptoe as he melts into him and the kiss, a soft rumble of hunger escaping him. Oh... it's so good. He loses himself within it, pulling Iskandar tight.]
And you are the sun, love. Brilliant like fire. [A hot whisper as he reaches up to twine fingers through Iskandar's hair. He shivers, but not from the cold. This is just a taste of what's to come.] Just as warm. My light, just as I'm yours.
[He's tempted to teleport them to the cabin to get started, but no. He's savoring the anticipation too much and his patience is still present. The walk for now.]
[One more kiss to stave off the hunger before he lets Waver move away, before they can walk again. The road that was mere minutes before now seems to take a whole eternity to traverse. Anticipation makes everything taste sweeter, yes, and Iskandar sees clearly that Waver is enjoying their leisurely stroll. But it's a true test for his almost non-existent patience. Though it seems to Iskandar that he had made some progress in the difficult art of delaying pleasure.
The very fact they are able to walk like this and he hadn't devoured his husband on the spot the moment they left the restaurant. One kiss, or even two, are nothing compared to what was on his mind all the time they were eating. And the dessert was the worse. The sole memory of Waver licking that bit of cream off his finger is enough to ignite his blood again. His sanity is saved by the fact that the path is in fact rather short, even if it doesn't feel like it in his current state. Then it takes only one swipe of the hotel card, the door open and they are back inside. ]
I want you.
[Iskandar breathes into heated skin of Waver's neck under the loosened scarf as his arms close around his husband's slender frame. His hunger impossible to hold off anymore.]
[It's as they left when they step inside - the strewn clothes from their last round of desperate passion, the oil bottle by the door, the stain on the wall. Waver notices none of it as he steps out of his shoes and into Iskandar's arms. His hands go for Iskandar's belt, unbuckling it, before toying with the button above his fly.]
You'll have me.
[He gasps as Iskandar's breath washes over his neck. His husband doesn't even need to touch to send frissons of pleasure through him. Him just wrapping his arms around him is...]
I've been fantasying of all the things we could get up to through dinner. Want to guess what's on my mind now?
[And he pops the button, and slowly pulls down the zipper of his husband's pants.]
[Soft rustle of the clothes, the faint jingle of the belt buckle, crackling of the fire. All the sounds come to him with almost eerie clarity. Iskandar chuckles. His lips still pressed to Waver's neck.]
I'd rather have you enlighten me.
[Get Iskandar to talk about all the things he'd do to his gorgeous husband the moment they get naked together? That's not a feat at all. To get Waver to talk. Oh, that's an entirely different thing. Iskandar is gradually teasing him into revealing more but it's a long process. Slow, and windy. He's as likely to gain more ground as he's to lose some. Iskandar has to only remind himself of that onsen fiasco to be painfully aware of how easy is for Waver to pull his defenses up again.
To have him admit it so openly is nothing short of a miracle. A miracle to add to all other miracles their stay here consists of. It almost takes his breath away.]

Date: 2020-02-15 10:48 pm (UTC)From:Those very limitations, those taboos, are at fault for his ignorance.

Date: 2020-02-16 10:20 am (UTC)From:Gah, don't remind me of the gatcha craze.

Date: 2020-02-16 12:09 pm (UTC)From:Like a normal person would!

Date: 2020-02-16 01:15 pm (UTC)From:Thank you.

Date: 2020-02-16 02:43 pm (UTC)From:[Simply watching Waver put a spoon in his mouth is enough for Iskandar to lose a breath or two. He licks his lips; his own dessert untouched. Soon. Very, very soon.]
We may need to start announcing our appearances sufficiently ahead of time to give everyone time to get a medical team ready. [A smirk.] In case, you know, someone fainted.

Date: 2020-02-16 03:08 pm (UTC)From:[The red begins creeping in Waver's cheeks.

Date: 2020-02-16 03:51 pm (UTC)From:[How eloquent of him.
Maybe he could appreciate it more if someone hasn't decided to be so criminally distracting now.]
no subject
Date: 2020-02-16 04:13 pm (UTC)From:Waver licks his lips, not bothering to disguise his own hunger or that he's laser focused on watching Iskandar eat while he finishes his own treat.

Date: 2020-02-16 05:24 pm (UTC)From:Iskandar would say not a word of protest though.

Date: 2020-02-16 08:39 pm (UTC)From:(he's getting too used to not being noticed, oops)]
W-wrong sweets, love.
[Fluster, fluster. Recover, recover. It's just a little innuendo backfire, that's all. Trying again for smoothness, as he gets up.]
Now how can I indulge if I'm away from you?

Date: 2020-02-16 09:52 pm (UTC)From:[So they both rise from their seats. It's not long before Iskandar has an arm wrapped around his husband's waist and he leads them out of the restaurant.]
You could try.
[Here comes that lion's grin again. Content and lazy. Eagerly anticipating a different kind of feast now.]
But I assure you, it's more fun with me.

Date: 2020-02-17 10:31 am (UTC)From:[Playing hard to get is ruined by the tone and Waver's hip bumping against Iskandar's own.
There's that lion's grin again. His husband's practically salivating at what's incoming in mere moments. Waver feels his skin prickle under it, his own desire roaring.]
But you are temptation incarnate. And since I have no plans of letting you sleep tonight...

Date: 2020-03-02 08:20 pm (UTC)From:[The door close behind them as they leave the restaurant and the warmth inside.

Date: 2020-03-03 09:15 am (UTC)From:He doesn't mind being dead.
The walk for now.]
no subject
Date: 2020-03-05 09:02 pm (UTC)From:Anticipation makes everything taste sweeter, yes, and Iskandar sees clearly that Waver is enjoying their leisurely stroll.

Date: 2020-03-06 09:51 pm (UTC)From:You'll have me.

Date: 2020-03-06 11:01 pm (UTC)From:I'd rather have you enlighten me.
